Inca Update
My doubts about the Inca Dove have been redoubled. I stopped in the street when I saw another scaly little dove, but this time it didn't fly away and close inspection revealed it to be a sweet little Mourning Dove. It certainly was very scaly, but there were no scales on the belly and there were the beginnings of black spots on the wings.
It also acted exactly like a Mourning Dove. Even when I rolled down my window a few feet away and attempted to scare it into flying, it just stood there. It takes me back to the time when a Mourning Dove built a nest in our fort when we were kids. She didn't move even with all the racket we used to make up there. I cried when Dad had that fort taken down. It was about to fall down anyway, but...well, I'm sentimental.
Every day is a digression day.
